Parent Partnership & PTA

Our parents are so important to us and your input into your child’s records here is valued highly and helps us with our curriculum planning. This could be through photographs of somewhere you have visited or something they have achieved at home. it could also be a picture that they have drawn or painted at home that they may like to put in their Journey Book. We as a playgroup expect that you will speak to your child’s keyworker and read their record books on a regular basis. Your child’s records will be easily accessible in Blue or Green rooms. We ask, however that you do not remove the records from the premises. At the end of your child’s time at playgroup, you will be given the copy of your child’s playgroup Journey Book.

Parents are an important part of playgroup life

Parent/Carer support is invaluable, and we welcome parent/carers who have a bit of spare time and would like to read a story to the children, play an instrument, sing or whatever you feel comfortable doing

If you have any skills you could share with the children please come and talk to us about them.

The Playgroup staff are always available to answer your questions and help with any problems.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA is a group of parents who through various functions raise money for the extra needs of the Playgroup.

Your support at these events is vital and will also give you the opportunity to meet other parents.

If you want to join in then please contact Rachel.

We are a not-for-profit charity and rely on the generosity of our parents and the community to help us. We run regular fundraising events throughout the year, and all money raised goes towards improving the facilities and provision we offer. We also hold meetings and celebration events that parents are warmly welcomed to join.

Our regular and recent events include:

Messy Play group

Messy Play is a group for younger children and their parents or carers, that takes place at the playgroup every week on Monday and Thursday mornings during term time, 09.30 to 11:00. Children participate in a range of messy play, including painting, water play, playdough, gloop and much more.

Children can join the group from age 3 months.

Summer Holiday Stay and Play

During the summer holidays, playgroup opens one morning a week for children and their parents or carers to “stay and play”. Indoor and outdoor activities are available, as well as refreshments. The mornings are informal and parents or carers will need to stay and supervise their children. These are really sociable mornings and a great way to stay in touch with us over the summer holidays.

Meridian Primary School Visits

We have excellent links with Meridian Primary School, and during summer term we arrange for the reception class teacher to visit playgroup and get to know the preschool children (age 3 – 4) who will be attending Meridian the following September. We also take the children for visits to the school. We rely on parents and volunteers to help us on these walks.

We also take all the preschool children to watch the school sports morning, when possible, and enjoy running our own 50 m sprint race at the end!

End of term BBQ

We finish the term with an after school BBQ, including refreshments and a raffle, to celebrate a year completed and wish all our preschool children good luck for starting school in September.

“Thank you so much for everything that you have done for F. She has been so happy with you and you have done a huge amount with her in a very short time. I am thrilled with the progress she has made, and it is the first time she has gone happily to pre-school every morning. Thank you, you have created a very special place!”
